Your safety is our priority
MotorUnity is built on trust. Here is everything you need to know about how we verify members, protect the community, and handle disputes.
Trust Score
What is a Trust Score?
Every member on MotorUnity has a Trust Score — a number from 0 to 100 that reflects how verified and reliable they are. It is calculated from four components: email verification (+20), profile completion (+20), licence verification (+30), and community reviews (+30).
How is it calculated?
Trust Score components are additive. A fully verified member with a complete profile, verified licence, and positive reviews will achieve a score of 100. Scores are recalculated automatically whenever you update your profile or receive a new review.
Why does it matter?
Listings from members with higher Trust Scores appear more prominently in search results. Drivers and owners can filter by Trust Score to ensure they are transacting with verified, reputable members of the community.
Verification
Email verification
All members must verify their email address before they can post listings or send enquiries. This prevents spam and ensures every account is tied to a real person.
Licence verification
PHV drivers can submit their licence number for verification. Our team cross-references this with licensing authority records to confirm validity. Verified licences are displayed on driver profiles with a badge.
Vehicle verification
Vehicle owners can have their listings verified by submitting V5C documentation and PCO licence details. Verified listings display a prominent badge and receive priority placement.
Fraud reporting
Recognising fraud
Be cautious of listings with unusually low prices, requests to communicate outside MotorUnity, requests for payment before viewing a vehicle, or pressure to act quickly. Legitimate owners will always be happy to meet in person and allow inspection.
How to report
Use the "Report listing" button on any vehicle, driver, or business listing. Include as much detail as possible. Our trust and safety team reviews all reports within 24 hours and will take action including suspension or removal of fraudulent accounts.
What happens next
Reported accounts are reviewed by our team. Where fraud is confirmed, accounts are suspended immediately and relevant authorities may be notified. We take a zero-tolerance approach to fraud on the platform.
Community standards
Respectful communication
All members are expected to communicate respectfully. Harassment, discrimination, or abusive language will result in account suspension. MotorUnity is a professional marketplace — treat others as you would wish to be treated.
Accurate listings
Listings must accurately represent the vehicle, driver, or service being offered. Misleading descriptions, false mileage, or misrepresented PCO status are grounds for immediate removal and account suspension.
Fair pricing
We encourage fair market pricing. Exploitative pricing — particularly targeting newly licensed drivers — is against our community standards. Members can report listings they believe are priced unfairly.
Dispute handling
Raising a dispute
If you have a problem with a transaction or interaction on MotorUnity, contact the other party through our messaging system first. Most issues can be resolved directly. If you cannot reach a resolution, use the dispute form in your dashboard.
Our process
Our team will review the dispute, examine the conversation history and any evidence provided, and make a determination within 5 business days. Both parties will be notified of the outcome. Our decisions are final for platform-level matters.
Legal matters
MotorUnity is a marketplace platform and is not a party to transactions between members. For legal disputes involving money or contracts, you may need to seek independent legal advice. We will cooperate with law enforcement investigations where required.
Report a listing
Use the report button on any listing to flag suspicious activity.
